How To Stay Productive When You're in a Creative Rut

Have you ever sat at your computer and tried to figure out what was a creative solution to a problem, or what new idea or design was needed for your home or business?

I have have come across this many times, usually when I had a deadline for a clients home or there business.

You can do this even if you aren't a designer, if you're in a office 8 hours a day you may need to play around with your creativity by doing something that has nothing to do with your job.

Personally I realized that I needed to step away and go down stream instead of upstream.

There are easy ways to do this.

Step 1

Take the big picture and make it small. It's like eating a steak, you can't eat the entire stake in one bight, you eat it piece by piece. For example if I have to design an entire show room, I take one room and start designing that room. Even that may feel to big for me to creatively process, this is when I would make a mood board first with accessories. I usually start with my live plants.

For office employees try to imagine how you want to feel when you sit at your desk, do you want to feel like you are on a summer vacation or do you want to feel like its autumn.

Step 2

Try imagining what you want others to feel when they see your design. Pick plants that make you feel something, like excitement and happy memories of your past. Find colors , textures, heights and lengths that create the mood that you want. These aren't just plants they are creations that describe you as a individual. Have fun using different plants in one pot.

Step 3

Find a pot that shows off your plant design. If you are going for a large pot design grab a plastic container that is large enough to hold the plants that you want to place in your large pot.

Step 4

For large pots grab your Drop -N- Planter, place in the 12" to 18" opening and take your beautiful plant design and drop your plant in. And don't worry if want to change your design it's simple with the drop in planter you take out one design and replace it with another . with the Drop-N-Planter you don't need to fill the entire pot with extra dirt, just drop your plant in. Step 5

Enjoy your plant. Place your plant in it's perfect spot to showcase your office or your designed room.

I can say this from experience. After taking this much deserved time to be creative it opens up endless possibilities of productivity.
